The U.S. Forest Service is hiring for positions in wildland firefighting in California, and at locations nationwide, including permanent and permanent seasonal opportunities. We will be hiring around 1,000 permanent firefighting jobs across the nation. California will fill about 500 of those positions. The positions available will start as low as the GS-3. There are about 150 targeted at the GS-3 to 4 level. Since these are entry level, many students should be able to compete. Please see the qualifications section on each position announcement.
