Steps to Hiring New Student Employees
Recruitments are required for all on campus positions. Please do not submit New Hire Requests for positions that did not go through the proper recruitment process.
Prior to beginning step 1, please submit an email to Jamie Longnecker (jlongnecker@santarosa.edu) with a full list of applicants you will not be moving forward with so we can send declines to them in a timely manner.
- Supervisor: Submits a Generate New Hire Request. Only students who have completed eligibility and have applied to the position on Handshake will be processed.
- Career Hub: Contacts Student via regarding the Canvas Course they will be invited to.
- Student: Completes New Hire Orientation (either online or in person), completes i9 verification by attending an in-person appointment with the Career Hub and completes all required paperwork
- All new hires will complete portions 1 and 2 of the hiring packet
- Individuals hired in specific departments will be required to complete fingerprinting
- Various groups of students may need additional time for documentation due to a variety of reasons - so the timeline above may vary by student needs
- Career Hub: Verifies accuracy of paperwork
- If approved, notifies Human Resources and Payroll for next steps
- If not approved, notifies student a redo of paperwork and/or document verification needs to be completed - this may cause delays.
- Human Resources: Generates EID from new hire
- Career Hub: Notifies new hire and student of EID with "clearance to begin" email.
